Today we had 7 knitters and crocheters.
E learned how to bind off and weave in ends. She's almost finished with her first knitting project.
L and K are still at the beginning stages and worked hard to learn the knit stitch.
S is crocheting a blanket out of marled yarn with lots of turquoise it it. It is beautiful and looks as though it will be complete soon.
CRB learned how to wind yarn from a looped skein. She is looking through stitch dictionaries for cable patterns in order to design a scarf using baby alpaca.
I helped R with her sock by turning the heel and picking up the gusset stitches. Next meeting she will learn how to decrease down to the foot.
I won't be here next week and the week after that is Labor Day when the library is closed.
We'll meet again on Monday, September 8, 2008 to begin a new year of knitting and crocheting. I hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

New Lace and New Knitters
N is working on a beautiful lace sweater in fine white cotton. She brought in her recently completed baby blanket knit in a very pale yellow crochet cotton. I hope to post a photo of the blanket in the future. We had two new students this week--6 year old J and his mother, M. Welcome J and M.
B brought a pair of slippers and I tried to write down the pattern for her to knit at home. Good luck to you, B; I hope I was accurate and clear.
As an added joy for me, my mom, P, is in town and crocheted while the rest of us knit. HH stopped by after finishing jury duty and knit on a dress for her daughter.
Many regular members are on vacation but those of us who were there had a wonderful time in our lovely, cool library.

N's and B's Sweaters
N made a beautiful sweater out of Debbie Bliss Cotton Cashmere. She used a scallop stitch pattern and designed the sweater herself. She brought it to the Monday knitting group and shared it with us all.S finished the black kitten slippers but I did not take a picture on Monday. A started something new, also in pink. N is beginning a cotton lace cardigan and S learned how do make bobbles. This week she plans to work on learning cables.
We had a small group this week but it included a new student. Welcome J!
As can be seen in the photo, B has made a great deal of progress on her pink and white Vogue sweater.

Hats!

S made two cute hats and brought them yesterday to show everyone. The black and white one is being modeled by her daughter, A, and the blue and white one is a baby hat. Beautiful work, S!
B is working on slipper socks, R is working on her first socks, CRB, who recently finished a hat, began knitting the beret designed by Shannita at A Mano Yarn Center and I is trying to master a complicated stitch pattern. I was so busy helping those who needed it that I didn't see what M was working on--but she was there and busy all the time. SA made a get well card for J, who has been hospitalized recently, and we all signed it. We look forward to when J is better and can rejoin us.
